We invite you to be a part of something Special

Si Quaeris Christians, Circumspice by Tim Bradburn
|
Alright, I never took Latin, but I'm pretty sure (if I've dissected the State of Michigan's motto correctly), the above title translates, "If you seek Christians, look about you."
I'm always amazed by the Christian people God puts into our lives-and sometimes we don't even realize it.
Just a couple of weeks ago
I had the opportunity to go on a work related trip to a door manufacturing plant in Indiana. There were a couple of contractors that I have known for at least
15 years that I invited to come along with me. During the van ride down to Indiana we had the chance to actually talk about stuff other
than lumber and building materials. Much to my surprise, I discoverred that both of the guys I had invited were pretty strong Christians - I figure this was
probably a big reason why I have connected with them over the years and why, out of the hundreds of guys I see on a regular basis at work, I chose them to go with me
on this particular trip. Obviously, once we found out we were all Christians, we formed a special bond that we will always cherish.
But the thing that really struck me is that we are surrounded by Christians all the time and often we don't even realize it, either because we don't feel that talking "religion"
is acceptable in the work place, or because we're too scared of the consequences if people find out we're "kooky, right-wing
conservatives". As I've grown stronger and wiser in my walk, I've begun to let down my defenses and engage people in deeper
conversations about God and my beliefs. And much to my spurprise, I've found that most people (most, not all) enjoy talking about
their faith and sharing their experiences. Furthermore, much to the chagrin of the drive-by media, I've found that I'm surrounded by Christian brothers and sisters
on a daily basis. So, if you're ever feeling that you're alone in this world, look around you-really look-and you might be surprised by who
Jesus has surronded you with!
